Tracks

GÖTEBLUES will offer several class tracks of differing lengths and levels. When registering, you must choose the right track, considering the appropriate level for your skill/experience and the amount of classes you want to take. These descriptions should help you find the right one.

“Baby Doll” - Fast track for swing dancers

You are really new to blues dancing. You have almost never danced the blues socially nor taken any classes, but you have a couple years’ worth of experience social dancing and taking classes in one or more swing dances such as Lindy Hop or Balboa. Perhaps you have seen people blues dancing (outside of Herräng Tuesdays ;) ) and thought it looked kinda cool, and you would like to learn more. This weekend will kick your blues dance journey off with a real bang!

You get:

  • 3 hour blues dance crash course for experienced swing dancers with Ruth and Mike
  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “Bumble Bee” and “Built For Comfort”)
  • 2 hours of half group classes with Annette (with “Bumble Bee”)
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties
  • After the crash course, you will take classes together with “Bumble Bee” and “Built For Comfort”.

“Bumble Bee” - Full track for new blues dancers

You are one of the newly hatched blues lovers, just aching for more, more, more! You have taken at least a basic course (not just a few tasters) that got you hooked and now you want a boost to get your blues groove to really take off. This is possibly your first blues workshop, maybe even your second but probably not your third.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “Baby Doll” and “Built For Comfort”)
  • 2 hours of half group classes with Annette (with “Baby Doll”)
  • 2 hours of half group classes with teachers to be determined
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties

“I Got What It Takes” - Full track for intermediate blues dancers

You have danced the blues for at least a year and you have enjoyed social dances regularly during this time. Or perhaps you have been blues dancing for much longer than that, but more casually. Either way, you have taken a few classes and been to a few workshops over the last couple of years. You have reached a stage in your dance development where your body naturally connects to any kind of blues music and you confidently handle a decent vocabulary of styles, moves, rhythms and tempos. You want to make the maximum use of this opportunity to learn from some of the blues dancing world’s best teachers.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “I’m In The Mood”)
  • 2 hours of half group classes with Annette
  • 2 hours of half group classes with teachers to be determined
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties

“Am I Wrong” - Full track for advanced dancers

You have been an avid blues lover since like forever. The blues is in your blood and if a tune is playing, you have a hard time not grooving. You have worked hard on your dance, taken lots of classes and been to many (5+) workshops over the years and you are comfortable talking about and working with advanced practical and theoretical concepts of blues dancing. Perhaps you even teach blues dancing in your home scene or have considered starting teaching. You are looking for inspiration or some new material to put into your dance, so you want the maximum amount of time with the teachers, in order to use this opportunity to its fullest potential.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “Ain’t Misbehavin’”)
  • 2 hours of half group classes with Annette
  • 2 hours of half group classes with teachers to be determined
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties

“Built For Comfort” - Half track for new blues dancers

You are new to blues dancing but really like it! You have taken a basic course (not just a few tasters) and have done some social dancing over the last 6 to 12 months. This is possibly your first blues workshop, maybe your second but probably not your third. You want to learn more but want an option with less class for a lower price.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “Baby Doll” and “Bumble Bee”)
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties

“I’m In The Mood” - Half track for intermediate blues dancers

You have danced the blues for at least a year and you have enjoyed social dances regularly during this time. Or perhaps you have been dancing blues for much longer than that, but less intensively. Either way, you have taken a few classes and been to a few workshops over the last couple of years. You have reached a stage in your dance development where your body naturally connects to any kind of blues music and you confidently handle a decent vocabulary of styles, moves, rhythms and tempos. You don’t want to miss out on this chance to work with top class international instructors, but are looking for an option with fewer class hours at a reduced price.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “I Got What It Takes”)
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties

“Ain’t Misbehavin’” - Half track for advanced blues dancers

You love the blues and have for a looong time. You have worked hard on your dance, taken lots of blues classes and been to many (5+) workshops over the years and you are comfortable talking about and working with advanced practical and theoretical concepts of blues dancing. Perhaps you even teach blues dancing in your home scene. You want a workshop option with more free time at a lower price point.

You get:

  • 2 hours of full group classes with Ruth and Mike (with “Am I Wrong”)
  • 2 hours of “choose your own adventure” classes and group activities
  • 3 parties
